Welcome Steph!

Hey TLC Community!

My name is Stephanie Rodriguez and I am excited to announce that this summer I will be interning at Talk Listen Connect! As an intern, my primary role will be to support TLC with integrating their programming into universities and colleges across Canada. I will be gaining hands-on experience in the mental health sector while also further developing my digital literacy abilities through website management and operations.

A little bit more about myself… I was first introduced to TLC programming when I was 13 years old, through a program called Friendship In Action. At the time, I was struggling with the complicated and heavy emotions that came with caring for a chronically ill family member. These TLC sessions provided me with a safe space to release those emotions whilst receiving support and compassion from my peers. For me, these TLC sessions reinforced the value of safe and genuine human connection. As I moved through high school, I quickly became an outspoken advocate for mental health as well as Diversity,Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging. I am now pursuing a BA in psychology at Western University.

Since joining the TLC team, I have received abundant encouragement and guidance  from every member of this lovely team. The supportive environment has already made this role incredibly rewarding. I have been fortunate to be introduced to an array of fellow organizations such as Captains & Poets, a research-based social-emotional learning program, and The Nightingale Centre, a non-profit organization that supports children and families who are navigating grief.

Working here is a wholesome full-circle moment and I am excited for the opportunity to grow alongside the wonderful organization that is Talk Listen Connect.

Talk soon,

Stephanie
